Do you love working with kids? Are you looking for a fun, meaningful part-time job that fits well with an afternoon schedule? Level UP Enrichment is hiring After-School Instructors / Teachers in Round Rock! Our instructors lead engaging Chess and STEM classes that help elementary students build confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills, and curiosity through games, hands-on projects, and guided instruction. You bring the energy, leadership, chess knowledge, and enthusiasm . We provide the curriculum, lesson plans, paid training, and program materials . Chess Experience Required Applicants must understand and be able to explain: Chess-piece movement and legal moves Castling Forks Pins Skewers Basic chess strategy and gameplay You must be comfortable demonstrating these concepts and teaching them to elementary-aged students.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$26.00-$32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Estimated Earnings:
Approximately $200 per week , depending on pay rate and assigned schedule
Guaranteed Class Minimum:
Instructors are paid for a minimum of 1.5 hours per class to account for setup, instruction, and student dismissal Paid training $100 bonus after successfully completing required training Pre-written curriculum and lesson plans All program materials provided Flexible part-time schedule Professional development opportunities Employee referral program Required Availability Please review these requirements carefully before applying. Must be available Monday through Thursday Must be available from 2:30 PM to 4:15 PM Must be able to travel to assigned school sites in the Round Rock, TX 78665 area Must have reliable transportation A Day on the Job You will travel to an assigned school and independently lead an engaging after-school Chess or STEM class using Level UP's provided curriculum and materials.
Your responsibilities may include:
Arriving early to prepare the classroom and materials Checking students into the program Leading the assigned Chess or STEM lesson Explaining activities and concepts in an age-appropriate way Keeping students engaged and participating Managing classroom behavior and expectations Maintaining a safe and positive learning environment Communicating professionally with students, families, school staff, and Level UP leadership Following student-dismissal and safety procedures Organizing and transporting program materials This position is a great fit for college students, substitute teachers, chess players, tutors, educators, STEM enthusiasts, retirees, or anyone looking for meaningful supplemental income. Essential Physical & Classroom Requirements This position requires employees to safely supervise and lead groups of children in an active, fast-paced enrichment environment. Employees must be able to perform the following essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Physical Stamina & Lifting:
Safely lift, carry, and maneuver up to 40 pounds of program materials
Materials Transportation:
Transport and manage program supplies using a personal vehicle
Mobility & Rapid Response:
Move safely through indoor and outdoor school environments and respond promptly when immediate action is required
Independent Group Supervision:
Independently supervise and manage groups of up to 20 elementary-aged students
Classroom Management:
Establish clear expectations, redirect student behavior appropriately, and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom
Communication:
Clearly and professionally communicate with students, parents or guardians, school staff, and Level UP leadership
Active Classroom Environment:
Remain attentive, engaged, and responsive in an energetic or loud environment Qualifications Applicants must have: Chess experience and knowledge of piece movement, castling, forks, pins, and skewers A genuine interest in working with elementary-aged children Strong communication and interpersonal skills The confidence to independently lead and supervise a group of students Reliable transportation capable of carrying program supplies A working smartphone Availability Monday-Thursday from 2:30 PM to 4:15 PM The ability to complete required background screening and fingerprinting upon hiring Dependability and strong time-management skills Bonus Qualifications We especially encourage applicants with: Teaching, tutoring, coaching, childcare, camp, or youth-program experience Experience teaching or coaching chess Classroom-management experience Experience independently supervising groups of children STEM, engineering, science, technology, or hands-on project experience Coursework or experience in education, child development, psychology, recreation, or a related field Ready to Level UP?
