Position Summary:
Saint Paul's Episcopal School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Afterschool Teacher to join our Early School After School Program. The ideal candidate has a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment rooted in our Episcopal values. This position requires flexibility, collaboration, and the ability to provide consistency and continuity in the classroom while the lead teacher is away. This position will remain open until filled. Duties and Responsibilities Provide a warm, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environment where every child feels valued and supported. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times. Implement schedules, activities, routines, and projects provided by the school. Provide meaningful enrichment activities that encourage children's creativity, curiosity, and social development. Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development through positive interactions and engaging experiences. Assist children with afternoon routines, including snack, restroom needs, playground time, and dismissal. Maintain consistent classroom expectations and positive behavior management practices aligned with the school's philosophy. Engage actively with children through play, conversation, exploration, and hands-on activities. Prepare and organize materials needed for daily activities and projects. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom and program environment. Communicate effectively with the Assistant Head of School, classroom teachers, teaching partners, and other faculty members. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other classrooms or performing additional duties as assigned. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and applicable state licensing requirements. Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience working with children is required; experience with children ages 18 months through Pre-K is preferred. Genuine love for working with young children and supporting their individual growth and development. Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood education. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing classroom and program needs. Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude. Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the afternoon. Ability to lift and carry young children when necessary. Must successfully pass all required background checks and comply with state licensing requirements and school policies.
