• 30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications Woodbridge Islamic School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and engaging Middle School English Teacher to join our team.

This is a part-time position ideal for an educator who enjoys working with middle school students and creating a structured, academically challenging, and supportive classroom environment. Teaching Assignment The teacher will be responsible for teaching three English classes per day : 5th Grade English/Language Arts 6th Grade English/Language Arts Combined 7th/8th Grade English/Language Arts This position generally runs from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM . Curriculum We use the Savvas English Language Arts curriculum for our middle school program. Candidates who already have experience teaching with Savvas are strongly encouraged to apply. The teacher will be expected to use the provided curriculum while delivering engaging instruction in: Reading comprehension and literary analysis Vocabulary development Grammar and language conventions Writing and composition Speaking and listening Research and critical-thinking skills Responsibilities The Middle School English Teacher will: Plan and deliver effective daily English/Language Arts lessons. Follow the school's curriculum and pacing expectations. Differentiate instruction to meet varying student ability levels. Assign and grade classwork, homework, quizzes, writing assignments, projects, and assessments. Provide meaningful feedback to help students strengthen their writing and reading skills. Maintain accurate student grades and academic records. Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain an orderly learning environment. Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress when needed. Collaborate with administration and other teachers. Participate in necessary school meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning related to the position. Support the mission, values, and expectations of Woodbridge Islamic School. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher Teaching experience in English, Language Arts, or a related subject Experience teaching students in Grades 5-8 Strong classroom management and communication skills Strong knowledge of reading and writing instruction Experience with the Savvas curriculum is highly preferred Ability to effectively teach a combined 7th/8th grade classroom Ability to create a positive, structured, and academically rigorous classroom environment If you have previous experience using the Savvas English/Language Arts curriculum, we especially encourage you to apply.
