Job Description

When the school day ends, Tapestry begins, and we're looking for Group Leaders to inspire youth with rich learning. You'll have your own group of kids and room to be creative. You'll plan the enrichment activities, cheer on each child's progress, and make afternoons something kids look forward to. What you'll do: Design and lead enrichment projects at least twice a week that build over time, whether that's STEM, art, cooking, or whatever your group is curious about Get to know each child and shape activities around their interests Guide a team of assistants and aides in your classroom Help with homework, reading, and math in a relaxed, encouraging space Lead field trips, recess, snack, and dismissal Share positive moments with families at the end of each day Why you'll love it: Afternoon hours that follow the school calendar, plus a 6-7 week full-day summer camp Your mornings stay free Ongoing training and professional development, compensated Creative freedom, backed by a supportive Site Coordinator and administrative team What you'll bring: An Associate's degree or equivalent (Bachelor's preferred) Experience working with kids in a school or childcare setting CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or willingness to get it Kindness, patience, and a knack for getting kids excited
Full Job Description Anticipated Schedule:
Tapestry follows the school calendar from September to June, with a 6-7-week summer camp. Hours per day are according to school dismissal, exact hours worked and summer program hours to be determined. Additional hours for staff meetings and training as planned by Tapestry.
Requirements:
Associate's Degree or equivalent, preferably a Bachelor's Degree, and experience working with children in the public school or childcare setting that meets CDD/VAE/School standards.
Supervision and Evaluation provided by:
Site Coordinator Responsibilities:
1.Know and adhere to all safety and emergency procedures (see site specific plans). 2.Meet with your program's Site Coordinator at least monthly to discuss:
  • Plans for enrichment activities
  • Supplies and equipment needed
  • Challenges and successes of your group
  • Plans for needed or anticipated logistics
  • Receive and provide feedback 3.Plan for and implement all activities and enrichments with your group of children, to include:
  • Enrichment programs for your group(s) of children two days per week
  • Plan multiple activities that build on each other over time
  • Differentiate and personalize learning for each child in your group
  • Regularly, both formally and informally, survey children for interests
  • Incorporate voice and choice regularly into enrichment and program times 4.
Actively engage with children during all program times and work to increase student engagement with all enrichment programs and activities. 5.Engage positively with students who need individual attention. 6.Participate in and assist with all field trips. 7.Support students' learning and skill development through homework help, literacy, math, and other activities. 8.Oversee and guide all volunteers and staff assigned to your classroom. 9.Contribute to the monthly newsletters. 10.Arrange for your group to have recess, snack and dismissal. 11.Manage your site classroom and keep the Site Coordinator informed of any concerns. 12.When there are visiting teachers, professionals or contracted services coming into your classroom, arrange for the set-up, clean-up and preparing the students for the activity. 13.Ensure your students are properly and timely dismissed to depart via bus or parent pick-up 14.Transition both students and families out of the program each day 15.Attend monthly staff meetings and required professional development trainings. 16.Maintain current
CPR/AED/FA
certification. 17.Learn, understand and implement all CDD, VAE and school-based regulations and policies. 18.Be familiar with and incorporate learning strategies to promote the attainment of Portrait of a Graduate traits by students. 19.Call the Site Coordinator when sick or unable to work. 20.Follow additional procedures and updates as identified in staff handbook or memos. 21.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 22.Represent the Tapestry & EPIC Programs in a positive and professional manner:
  • Be customer service oriented.
  • Connect with parents about the positive aspects of their child's day.
