Learning Train Academy is looking for an energetic, dependable, and engaging School-Age Teacher to join our school-age (2.0) after-school program! This is a hands-on position—we're looking for someone who is ready to participate in activities, interact with students, support daily routines and transitions, and help make our program a place children look forward to being. The School Age Teacher works closely with our School Age Classroom Coordinator and other team members to implement developmentally appropriate activities based on the interests and needs of the children. Position Key Responsibilities:
Assist with planning and implementing fun, engaging, age-appropriate activities for school-age children. Actively participate in activities and encourage children to get involved. Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. Build positive, supportive relationships with children and families. Communicate regularly with parents through conversations, reports, and LTA's electronic communication system. Model and encourage independence, self-help skills, and good hygiene practices. Help children navigate smooth daily routines and transitions. Follow all Learning Train Academy policies, procedures, and applicable state regulations. Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous quality improvement. Ensure adherence to all program policies and state regulations. Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation. School pick-ups Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children ages 5-12 years. Strong oral and written communication skills. Basic computer proficiency. High energy and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and children. Solid understanding of child development principles. Excellent leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills. Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to aquire before start date). Valid driver's license, comfortable driving small bus (CDL license not required) Ability to pass a full background check and health screening. Educational Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent 5 years from date of hire- 12 college credits related to education, teaching, and/or child development Physical Requirements Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers to handle objects or tools, and communicate at various volume levels. Ability to kneel, bend, squat, run, or crawl as needed. Must have adequate vision, including close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision. Ability to lift 40 lbs.
