The role of the Learning Facilitator (LF) is to provide instructional support and student oversight, in collaboration with their virtual teachers. The Microschool LF facilitates student learning as they complete online core content or on-site work and projects in a classroom setting. The Microschool LF serves as a liaison between the virtual teachers and the students, supervising student academic and social-emotional progress. This position requires open and ongoing communication with the virtual teachers and staff, online learning systems knowledge to be able to respond to student questions, and the ability to observe and facilitate positive classroom interactions and small group engagement. High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required. Highly preferred One (1) or more years of experience working with students, preferred. Strongly encouraged to meet highly qualified requirements by: Obtaining an Associate's Degree or higher OR Successful completion of 60 hours of college credit. Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. : Completes online learning facilitator training administered by our partners at Britestar. Advocates for student success in the online and in-person working environment. Serves as a communication liaison to all partnership support staff (virtual teachers and staff, school support staff, Title teachers, educational vendors, etc.) Responsible for day-to-day classroom activity as needed with instruction managed by Virtual Teachers. Supports the monitoring of students to ensure that they are working on all coursework and staying on pace. Collaborates with the virtual teachers to conference with students weekly to review goals and academic progress and help keep students organized and on track. Facilitates student communication with their virtual teacher(s) Remains open to feedback from the school leadership and partnership support team about facilitating the class in a way that ensures the greatest academic outcomes for students. Instructs students in using the virtual lessons, help sessions, exam prep, and calling teachers for help with course content and assessments. Assists in developing and preparing instructional materials, projects, and training modules. Communicates with the virtual teacher if an academic integrity concern arises. Establishes and maintains positive learning environments in the classroom. Motivates/encourages student engagement. Informs parents/guardians that access to student progress is available for all digital courses; they must provide the school with the most up-to-date email address. Answers questions and assists students with online learning systems, as requested. Notifies technology staff for technical issues, including but not limited to system malfunctions, video issues, internet interruptions, machine malfunctions, blocked websites, missing/required downloads, etc. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. : Demonstrated ability with reading, writing, computation, and communication skills, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to perform routine clerical tasks in support of classroom activities. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to articulate, represent professional demeanor and ability to take initiative. Flexible, with the ability to work in highly demanding, stressful environments. Understanding of the nuances of urban school environments and school culture. Belief in and alignment with Shining Star's Christian beliefs and educational philosophy is non negotiable.
