Art Handler Our Art Handlers are entrusted with safely handling, transporting, installing, packing, and presenting museum-quality artwork and antiques valued from thousands to millions of dollars. Every movement requires precision, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our clients' investments while delivering an exceptional customer experience. What You'll Be Doing As an Art Handler, you will: Safely transport, install, and reposition fine art, antiques, and other high-value objects throughout the gallery, client homes, and off-site locations. Prepare artwork for shipment using archival packing materials, custom crating techniques, and industry best practices. Load, unload, receive, inspect, and document artwork to maintain accurate inventory and verify condition. Deliver and install artwork in clients' homes while providing exceptional customer service. Assist with gallery merchandising, artwork placement, lighting adjustments, and exhibition installations. Support gallery events and trade shows through the setup, transportation, installation, and breakdown of artwork and displays. Perform minor frame touch-ups and restoration work as needed. Maintain company vehicles, tools, packing equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.Requirements:
What You'll Bring Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. 3+ years of professional experience handling, transporting, packing, or installing fine art, antiques, or other high-value, fragile objects. Experience safely operating material handling equipment and using hand and power tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to protecting valuable artwork. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling museum-quality or one-of-a-kind artwork and antiques. Experience operating a 26-foot box truck or similar commercial vehicle. Basic carpentry, crate construction, fabrication, or artwork installation experience. Chauffeur's license or the ability to obtain one. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Conservation, or a related field. Work Environment This role regularly works in the gallery, client homes, trade show venues, and other off-site locations. Employees frequently handle valuable artwork and antiques while working with ladders, dollies, forklifts, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment. The position requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and safely maneuvering artwork weighing up to 50 pounds independently, with heavier objects moved using assistance or appropriate equipment. Work may occasionally be performed outdoors and in varied weather conditions. Schedule This is a full-time position. Employees are generally scheduled to work five rotating days per week based on seasonal business demands and gallery operating hours. During peak seasons, the Aspen gallery operates seven days per week, and weekend and holiday work is expected. Overtime and occasional early morning, evening, and overnight travel may be required to support client installations, gallery events, deliveries, inventory projects, and trade shows. Compensation The anticipated hiring range for this position is $22.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, demonstrated technical expertise, and internal equity.
