Job Description
Southeastern Louisiana University's Sims Memorial Library invites applicants for a Library Specialist 3 position. Reporting to the Head of Electronic Resources & Serials and working with other library specialists, graduate assistants, and student workers in the Department, this position serves as the Evening/WEEKEND Supervisor in Serials. The Evening/WEEKEND Supervisor is charged with monitoring the activities of the Department, maintaining a safe and user-friendly work space, supervising student employees who work at night, and assisting patrons in the use of Library collections and resources. This position also works closely with the Evening Building Supervisor and will be cross-trained to make sure all closing activities are completed and that the building is securely locked once everyone has left the building. A general knowledge of serial publishing practices and strict attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written transactions and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Library patrons, staff, and commercial vendors.
