Southeastern Louisiana University's Sims Memorial Library invites applicants for a Library Specialist 3 position. Reporting to the Head of Electronic Resources & Serials and working with other library specialists, graduate assistants, and student workers in the Department, this position serves as the Evening/WEEKEND Supervisor in Serials. The Evening/WEEKEND Supervisor is charged with monitoring the activities of the Department, maintaining a safe and user-friendly work space, supervising student employees who work at night, and assisting patrons in the use of Library collections and resources. This position also works closely with the Evening Building Supervisor and will be cross-trained to make sure all closing activities are completed and that the building is securely locked once everyone has left the building. A general knowledge of serial publishing practices and strict attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written transactions and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Library patrons, staff, and commercial vendors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience in clerical work in a library setting.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION

Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the required experience.

NOTES:

Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments. Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
