Job Description

Calling all students, retirees, or those looking for a fun part-time position! Learn about the Life and Labors of Bishop Frederic Baraga, the first Bishop of Marquette, and share that knowledge with the public through tours at the Baraga Educational Center and Museum.
JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE
Baraga Museum Assistant
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Part-time (15 hrs. /week), Non-exempt. Hours are Monday - Friday, 12:00pm to 5:00 pm, three afternoons a week. One Saturday a month (June, July and August) from 10:00 am to 2:00pm is required.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO
Executive Director of the
Bishop Baraga Association Position Purpose:
To promote Bishop Baraga's cause for canonization (sainthood) and to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Baraga Museum.
Essential Functions:
Support and uphold the mission of the Bishop Baraga Association and the Diocese of Marquette, giving witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. Work in partnership with the Executive Director to advance the mission. Serve diocesan parishes, missions, Catholic Schools, parishioners, donors and other constituents with integrity, confidentiality, expertise, and accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma Detailed - oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. The ability to maintain office confidentiality is a must.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Learn the history of Bishop Frederic Baraga, the Baraga House and the Baraga Museum. Greet and welcome visitors. Provide tours of the Museum and Gardens upon request. Provide coverage in the Baraga gift shop. Assist customers with purchases, help maintain accurate inventory and organization. Assist with answering telephone calls and responding to email inquiries. Assist with special projects and planning of events. Assist with scheduling requests for presentations, blessings, and healing masses. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of the
BBA. WORK HOURS
The position is: 15 - 19 hrs. per week Monday through Friday afternoons. Some flexibility with hours. The above describes the general nature of the job and is not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills, abilities and working conditions.
