Job Description

Operate the main circulation desk evenings and weekends or in absence of permanent staff. To provide support to the unit's day-to-day processes and operations and to supervise student assistants.

Communication Teamwork Technology Perform all duties of Student Desk Assistant for Access Services Open and close the building Maintain the safety and security of the library and its patrons Direct work of other students in absence of full time staff Assist in training and organizing the work of other students Model professional behavior, including maintaining confidentiality Make decisions on complex patron problems and system issues Perform advanced processes in the system exercising an increased level of access and authority Communicate with supervisors about student issues, concerns, and needs Maintain calm and execute established procedures during weather, health, and patron emergencies Act as a resource for other students Acts as a public service point for Interlibrary loan Other duties as assigned Previous experience as a student assistant in the University Library Availability during evening and weekend hours Extremely punctual and dependable Ability to multi-task and be highly organized History of commitment to excellent service Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills Strong problem solving skills, critical thinking skills
