Bryn Mawr College Special Collections is seeking a temporary, part-time Collections Move Technician to support the goal of moving over 10,000 archaeological objects between buildings. The technician will operate within Special Collections, a team-based department within Library and Information Technology Services (LITS). The Technician will work collaboratively under the direction of the Collections Manager of Art & Artifacts. Initial work will focus on supervising contracted art movers to pack and move the collections. Then the Technician will help unpack, inventory, and return objects to storage cabinets, as well as update locations in the collections management database. This is a grant funded position and is contingent on funding availability. About the

Schedule & Benefits:
Bryn Mawr is committed to building and sustaining a campus community where faculty and staff can thrive. This part-time, temporary staff position has an anticipated schedule of 26 hours per week, four days a week from 9:00am to 4:00pm. This position will start on June 1, 2026, and will continue until the end of August 2026.
Characteristic Responsibilities:
Safely handle and manipulate museum objects Read and transcribe identifying numbers from objects Critically assess object stability and material makeup, pre-packing Supervise a team of art packers Unpack various types of objects safely and securely Perform location moves within the collections database, EmbArk Other move-related collections duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Archaeology, History of Art, Anthropology, Museum Studies, or related field. A documented history of collections of experience may be substituted for a formal degree. Past experience working with museum collections preferred. Comfortable undertaking fine dexterity work and handling delicate materials. Ability to complete repetitive tasks consistently, while maintaining accuracy, safety, and integrity. Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to wear PPE appropriate to the tasks assigned. Strongly developed 3D-spatial reasoning skills. Capable of working independently and as part of a team. The ability to use step ladder, and spend much of the day standing, bending, and lifting A background check is required prior to employment.
