Location:
Kent Historical Museum, 855 Smith Street, Kent, WA 98030
Schedule:
Wednesday-Saturday | 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Approximately 18 hours per week)
Pay:
$20 per hour Start date: September 2026, specific date to be mutually determined Join Our Team! Do you enjoy meeting new people and sharing your enthusiasm for history and culture? We're looking for a friendly, dependable Museum Greeter to welcome visitors and help create a safe and exceptional guest experience at our museum. As the first person our guests meet, you'll play an important role in making every visitor feel welcome while supporting the museum's daily operations. What You'll Do  Open the museum each day and prepare for visitors.  Welcome guests and provide outstanding customer service.  Answer questions about museum exhibits, programs, memberships, and upcoming events.  Answer the phone and direct calls to appropriate staff or take detailed messages.  Record attendance and process admissions, memberships, donations, and purchases using the museum's point-of-sale system.  Promote museum memberships and special events.  Keep the front desk and gift shop clean, organized, and well-stocked.  Assist visitors with wayfinding and general information.  Close the museum each afternoon according to established procedures.  Assist with administrative tasks, material prep and event support as needed. If you have specific museum-related skills (photography, research, writing etc.) we will work with you to integrate them into your job, if appropriate.  Attend a weekly staff meeting.  Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For  Friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor.  Excellent customer service and communication skills.  Comfortable handling cash, credit card transactions, and balancing a daily register.  Basic computer skills.  Experience with Canva/graphic design is a plus. Ideally, we'd like someone who can create or update social media posts, promotional materials and signage using Canva.  Ability to work independently and reliably.  Interest in museums, local history, education, and/or community organizations is preferred.  A willingness to help where needed with enthusiasm.  Must have reliable transportation.  May occasionally be asked to work offsite or after hours, if available. Physical Requirements  Ability to stand, walk, and sit throughout the workday.  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
