Duties Help The United Stes Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution th was creed by the US Congress to serve as America's nional memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educional institution dediced to the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The Museum seeks to educe Americans from all 50 stes and all walks of life as well as internional audiences. The Museum has three areas of expertise: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust scholarship and educion, and genocide prevention. In carrying out its important memorial and educional mission, the Museum is guided by its institutional values for our workplace: Honor the memory of the victims; carry out our work with dignity, humility, integrity and respect for others; and strive for excellence through teamwork, rigor, and a culture of continuous learning. Duties include:

The Deputy Director is closely involved with high level program officials in the development of overall goals and objectives for assigned staff function(s), program(s), or program segment(s). Serves as the chief advisor to the Chief Museum Operions Officer regarding the opering stus of Museum buildings and the oversight, direction, and administrive management of the Office of Museum Operions and Administrion (MOA). Identifies critical needs and issues requiring immedie tention. Serves as the lead representive for Museum Operions and Administrion for the institutional priority reled to designing, constructing, and opering the new Permanent Exhibition (PE). Leads MOA budget planning, formulion, and execution process for the office in coordinion with Chief Museum Operions Officer, division directors, and support staff within the office assisting with this function day to day and with staff in the Office of Finance. As chief advisor to the Chief Museum Operions Officer/MOA Director, identifies issues, functions, responsibilities, and activities th help maximize the effectiveness of the institution's operions and administrion. Ensures th policies and processes for managing, opering, and staffing the Office of Museum Operions and Administrion align with and advance short- and long-term goals and objectives of both the office and the Museum-wide stregic plan. Serves as the Museum's representive for the Internional Associion of Museum Facility Administrors (IAMFA), the premier global network for professionals who safeguard and maintain the world's most prestigious cultural institutions. Provides leadership in addressing unresolved operional issues and pressing problems crossing office and division lines and advises other senior leaders and staff all levels on stregies for resolving issues. Supervises the Director of the Operions Division and provides second-level supervision to a staff of approximely 20 employees including subordine supervisors. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Applicants must clearly demonstre the necessary level of managerial and leadership skills and technical competence required to perform successfully the duties of the position. This includes least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-15. Specialized experience is defined as experience in or reled to the work of this position and th has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform successfully. The experience must demonstre a wide range of expertise, responsibilities, and accomplishments reled to museum administrion and operions (i.e., providing leadership, direction, and policy oversight into activities reled to opering the Museum; ensuring the policies and processes for managing, opering, and staffing the Office of Museum Operions and Administrion align with short- and long-term goals and objectives; performing a variety of tasks requiring management ability, sound judgment, discretion, and substantial knowledge of the Museum's policies, programs, and operions.

Time-in-Grade Requirements:

Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying).
