Oversee daily operations, including staff management, volunteer coordination, and visitor services. Manage the museum's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while supporting innovative programming. Curate exhibitions by conducting historical research, cataloging collections, and overseeing curatorial object care. Utilize social media management and digital marketing strategies to increase public engagement and expand outreach efforts. Foster educational programs by collaborating with educators and designing classroom experiences for diverse audiences, including children. Maintain database management systems for collections and visitor records to ensure accurate cataloging and research capabilities. Represent the museum at public events, conferences, and community meetings through compelling public speaking and presentations. Ensure compliance with safety standards and oversee the maintenance of collections in accordance with best practices. Skills Proven experience working within a museum or nonprofit arts and cultural organization environment. Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and staff development. Excellent communication skills—public speaking, writing, and interpersonal abilities—to engage diverse audiences effectively. Expertise in fundraising strategies including grant proposal writing, donor cultivation, and sponsorship development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as database management systems related to collections or memberships. Skilled in social media management to promote exhibitions, programs, and community events across various platforms. Deep knowledge of historical research methods and collection management practices including cataloging and curatorial object care. Experience working with children through educational programming or classroom teaching is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask across projects while maintaining attention to detail. Budgeting experience to develop financial plans that support operational needs while ensuring sustainability.
