Job Description
The Episcopal Church of the Advent is seeking a part-time Rector to serve as the principal pastor, spiritual leader, and chief executive of our parish and Day School.
We seek a Rector who will come alongside us, become acquainted with who we are and where God is leading us, and help us make more room at our family table for others to join. We are looking for a Rector who will be an engaged teacher, pastor, preacher, and celebrant who equips parishioners for ministry; provides compassionate pastoral care; guides Christian formation for children and adults; and works collaboratively with the Vestry to shape and communicate the parish's mission, vision, and strategic direction.
The Rector will lead worship according to the Book of Common Prayer, celebrate the Eucharist and preach weekly, and oversee lay and musical participation in worship. The Rector will chair the Vestry, serve as head of staff, oversee parish administration, finances, stewardship, facilities, and employment decisions, and maintain regular office hours. The Rector will supervise the Day School Director, collaborate with the Day School Board, and maintain an active, loving presence among the school's staff, students, and families. The Rector will also encourage service to the wider community, participate in the life and ministry of the Diocese of Florida, and represent Advent in the community and the larger Church.
