Pay Range:
Targeted salary up to $13.00 per hour, based on experience
Benefits Eligible:

Position Introduction:
The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art (FJJMA) seeks a part-time Museum Guard to assist with ensuring the safety of the museum's art collection and visitors. The FJJMA offers a unique experience where you can interact with people while being surrounded by an array of artworks. Under the direction of Security Supervisors, Guards are responsible for securing the museum's collection and facility. They demonstrate a welcoming and friendly attitude and exercise discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment. The ideal candidate is compassionate, energetic, values the arts, and seeks to provide a welcoming and safe experience for visitors.
Required Skills:
Ability to properly broadcast and receive information using a two-way radio Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with visitors and museum staff Willingness to wear and maintain uniforms and to comply to departmental grooming standards Excellent observational skills
Advertised Physical Requirements:
Must be able to climb, crouch, pull, push, reach, stand, engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists or fingers, move, touch including finger dexterity, communicate, hear including receiving detailed information orally or making fine discriminations in sound and see including color, depth perception or clarity. Must be able to move and stand for several hours at a time.
Required Education and Experience:
GED/High School Graduate.
Department Preferences:
Prior experiences in the arts or museums. Prior security experience in a public institution. Hiring Contingent Upon a
