Part-time Visitor Services Associate The Charleston Museum Charleston, SC Job Details Part-time From $17 an hour 8 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Qualifications Customer service Merchandising High school diploma or GED Retail sales Full Job Description The Charleston Museum is seeking a part-time Visitors Services Associate who enjoys working with the public. Applicants should have strong customer service skills and similar experience in sales, retail or reception. Primary duties would include sale of Museum tickets and Museum Store merchandise and greeting/orienting Museum guests. Sunday availability required. The Visitors Services Desk Associate, under the supervision of the Chief of Museum Operations, helps to ensure the efficient and orderly operation of the Visitor Services Desk, including but not limited to the stocking of Museum Store inventory, handling of and accounting for receipts, attractive displays, sale of inventory and tickets, dealing effectively with the general public, and answering the telephone. The Visitors Services Desk Associate is responsible for carrying out all responsibilities and representing the Museum in a professional manner. 1. All efforts necessary to accomplish general responsibilities and assist the needs and interests of the Museum . 2. Represents the Museum positively in appearance, dress, deportment and in relations with other staff, volunteers, and the general public . 3. Assists implementation of Museum emergency procedures as required . 4. Regular punctual job attendance . 5. Other duties as assigned . Specific 1. Deals effectively with the general public and Museum members. 2. Makes sales, runs credit cards, handles money, makes change, and closes POS at end of day. 3. Maintains a working knowledge of Museum Store inventory and its relationship to Museum collections and exhibitions, and special events. 4. Assists the Chief of Museum Operations in all phases of Museum Store operation, as directed. 5. Ensures that monies received are properly handled and accounted for. 6. Helps to maintain the Visitor Services Desk and Museum Store in a clean and orderly fashion. 7. Maintains consistent oversight of inventory levels and advises Chief of Museum Operations of the inventory as needed based upon established inventory procedures. 8. Maintains familiarity with Museum collections, exhibitions, and special events. 9. Assists security by monitoring inventory against theft/pilfering. 10. Answers the telephone, provides information concerning the Museum Store, the Museum and its facilities, takes messages and directs calls accordingly. 11. Responds to public inquiries concerning the Museum Store and handles related telephone calls. 12. Assists in annual inventory of the Museum Store merchandise. 13. Assists in bulk mail mailings 14. Processes phone orders for Museum Store merchandise. 14. Responsible for selling tickets for the Museum and its two historic houses.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Minimum high school diploma. 2. Ability to handle all aspects of Museum Store operation. 3. General knowledge of Museum purposes and mission. 4. Ability to communicate effectively with the general public. 5. Ability to interact effectively with volunteers and other staff. 6. Ability to perform all required duties. 7. Punctuality and reliability in attendance at work.
