Immediately Job Description To provide students enrolled in the district with varied opportunities to learn about and enjoy musical experiences as a vocal performer and/or as a listener. The Choir Director is responsible for instructing secondary school students in the field of choral music and creating a safe and orderly learning environment. Position motivates students to develop an interest in and an appreciation of the art of music. Position develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students' interests and abilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree (desired) with major in music Valid Arkansas certification in the vocal music field Two (2) years' experience (preferred ) Other preferred qualifications: Piano Skills, Music Notation, Word Processing and Audio Recording Hands-on experience working as a Music teacher Exceptional knowledge in music and music appreciation Sound knowledge of music curriculum and instruction Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Excellent written and oral communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches choral singing, music notation, reading, and listening skills Recruit students into the vocal music program Coordinates and directs choir concerts throughout the year Motivates students and successfully employ effective teaching methods Communicates with parents the progress and adjustment of their student Teaches related classes as assigned Directs and evaluates the learning experience of the student in curricular work Provides guidance to the student which will promote his/her welfare and proper education development in keeping with accepted theories of student growth and development To cooperate and participate in the planning and evaluation of the school programs Responsible for establishing and leading a music program. Instructs and manages the music program, promotes school spirit during classes as well as performances and encourage student participation Curriculum and implementation of all choral music program activities, concerts and events Plans and utilizes appropriate instructional and learning strategies and materials. Utilizes technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Creates classroom environment conducive to learning and emotional development. Complies with and supports all school district regulations and policies. Maintains a clean and organized choir room and performance area. Evaluates program, materials, and methods of instruction as to their value and effectiveness reaching the goals and objectives of the learning experiences Establishes and maintains rapport with students and encourages student participation Ensures proper conduct and discipline of all students in the elementary music program
