Exempt Position Summary The Music Teacher is responsible for providing a comprehensive music education program for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade in a caring, Christ-centered, and future-focused learning environment. The Music Teacher develops students' musical knowledge, skills, creativity, and appreciation while integrating biblical principles into instruction and encouraging students to use their musical gifts to glorify God. The Music Teacher collaborates with faculty, administration, parents, and students to support the mission and vision of Bethany School by providing engaging music instruction, directing student performances, and fostering a positive classroom environment where students can grow academically, artistically, socially, and spiritually. This position may also include planning and leading extracurricular music opportunities before or after school as assigned by administration.

Teach age-appropriate music concepts including:
Vocal music Rhythm Melody Music theory Music notation Instrument exploration Music appreciation Performance techniques Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including those receiving support through Bethany School's B.E.S.T. Program Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student learning and engagement Assess student progress and adapt instruction based on individual needs Classroom Environment Foster a positive, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom culture Maintain effective classroom management that encourages participation, responsibility, and mutual respect Promote creativity, collaboration, and confidence through music Administration Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments and provide appropriate feedback on work in a timely manner Prepare grade reports, progress reports, and attendance reports in accordance with school policy Student Development Encourage students to develop their musical talents while building confidence, perseverance, and teamwork Performances and School Programs Plan, organize, rehearse, and direct student performances including, but not limited to: Winter Concert Spring Concert Coordinate rehearsals and prepare students for performances. Collaboration Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations Work collaboratively with teachers, administration, and support staff to promote student success Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, committee work, and school-wide events Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct Continue professional growth through workshops, conferences, and other learning opportunities Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Enrichment Responsibilities The teacher may be assigned to organize, supervise, and lead enrichment classes, which may include, but are not limited to: Performing other enrichment or school-related duties as assigned by the Principal to support the educational, spiritual, and operational needs of Bethany School. Qualifications Education Valid Teaching Credential Preferred Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field required Experience Previous teaching experience preferred Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students Experience teaching music to elementary and/or middle school students preferred Experience directing choirs, ensembles, musicals, or worship teams preferred Strong classroom management skills Experience using instructional technology preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of music education and age-appropriate instructional practices Ability to inspire and engage students through creative instruction Excellent classroom management skills Strong communication and organizational abilities Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents Ability to integrate biblical principles into music instruction Commitment to Bethany School's Mission, Vision, and Statement of Faith Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the instructional day Ability to lift and transport musical equipment and classroom materials (up to 25 pounds) Ability to supervise students during performances, rehearsals, and school events Professional Expectations Bethany School faculty members are expected to: Foster positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and the community Maintain confidentiality and professionalism Serve as a positive ambassador for
