Job Description

Middle School Mallet Instructor We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Mallet Percussion Instructor to work with our middle school percussion students. The ideal candidate will help students develop fundamental skills on keyboard percussion instruments while creating a positive, motivating, and engaging learning environment. Position Responsibilities Teach beginning and intermediate mallet percussion students. Provide instruction on instruments such as marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, bells, and other keyboard percussion instruments .
Teach proper fundamentals including:
Grip and mallet technique Music reading Scales and arpeggios Keyboard layout Timing and rhythm Musical expression and dynamics Help students prepare music for concerts, festivals, competitions, and performances. Work alongside the percussion director and music staff to support the overall percussion program. Develop engaging exercises, warm-ups, and lesson plans appropriate for middle school students. Provide constructive feedback and encourage students to grow musically and personally. Maintain a positive, professional, and safe learning environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience playing and/or teaching mallet percussion. Knowledge of percussion fundamentals and music education. Ability to work effectively with middle school-aged students. Strong communication and leadership skills. Experience with marching percussion or concert percussion is a plus. Ability to read music and teach music notation. Schedule Schedule and hours can be discussed based on availability. The instructor may work with students during rehearsals, after-school practices, sectionals, or scheduled percussion classes. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is energetic, patient, reliable, and passionate about music education. This person should be able to motivate young musicians while helping build strong technical fundamentals and a love for percussion. $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
