San Diego, CA Schedule:
Tuesdays 5:00-7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays 4:30-7:00 p.m. 5 hours per week | In person
Pay:
$48 - $62/hr Music Pillars is looking for an experienced, outgoing teacher who loves working with children and knows how to keep a small group engaged. You will primarily teach piano to groups of three to six students, with occasional individual lessons. Strong teaching skills and classroom management matter more for this position than advanced piano performance ability. You should be comfortable getting a group's attention, explaining a concept clearly, and keeping everyone involved while helping individual students. REQUIRED
. If you have not taught groups, you must have substantial other teaching experience and be ready to lead a small class confidently. An outgoing, extroverted personality is important. We are looking for someone who enjoys interacting with children, brings energy to lessons, and can be warm and encouraging while maintaining clear expectations.
You should be able to:
Keep three to six students focused, participating, and learning. Redirect distractions with patience and confidence. Notice when a student needs extra help without losing the rest of the group. Explain musical concepts in ways children understand. Be prepared, dependable, and consistent each week. Piano requirements You must be comfortable playing and teaching through Level 6 of the Music Pillars piano curriculum. This includes skills such as minor scales, sixteenth notes, 6/8 meter, and chromatic scales. You can review the level descriptions at www.musicpillars.com/piano-1. Level 6 refers to our own curriculum. Advanced concert repertoire is not required. Your ability to connect with children and help them learn is our main priority. What you will do Teach small group piano lessons using the Music Pillars curriculum. Teach occasional individual piano lessons. Help students develop piano skills, musical understanding, and confidence. Create lessons where students have fun and make steady progress. Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom. Tuesdays:
5:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Wednesdays:
4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Applicants must be available for both days each week. Pay:
