Our preschool classes give children opportunities to sing, move, play instruments, explore, and build confidence in a fun and welcoming environment. This part-time role is perfect for someone who loves working with young children and believes music education should be joyful, playful, and inclusive. You'll lead engaging preschool music classes using singing, movement, instruments, musical games, and creative activities while creating a classroom where every child feels welcomed and successful. We're looking for someone who brings energy, creativity, and warmth to the classroom and enjoys creating those moments when children light up as they discover something new through music. Schedule :
Monday to Friday, AM Shift 8:30-11 am, PM Shift 12:00-3:00 pm) •Full time employment with benefits available for qualified candidates Compensation & Benefits This is a part-time hourly W-2 position with a consistent hourly rate and support for the work you do both inside and outside the classroom. Receive the same hourly rate to plan lessons, prepare songs and resources, as well as driving between locations (mileage reimbursement in addition to hourly rate). Support & Stability Part time position Consistent hourly rate 401(k) retirement plan Paid sick time Paid travel time Mileage reimbursement Workers' compensation and professional insurance coverage provided by OC Music Services Your Day to Day Travel to local schools within the Garden Grove School District to lead engaging preschool music classes. Lead classes using our OCMS curriculum, incorporating singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, musical games, creative play, and your own creative touches. Classroom sizes vary from small (4-6 kids) to large (20-30). Create a fun, welcoming classroom environment where every child feels comfortable participating and exploring music. Adapt activities to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of the children in each class. Bring your energy, creativity, and love of music to every classroom. Build positive relationships with school staff and collaborate with the OCMS team to support successful classes. Classes take place from 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. What We Are Looking For We're looking for someone who is a confident musician, engaging educator, and genuinely enjoys working with young children.
The right person:
Loves working with preschool-aged children and connects naturally through play, music, and creativity. Is comfortable leading groups and managing an active classroom. Brings warmth, energy, enthusiasm, and confidence to the classroom. Can sing confidently while accompanying themselves on guitar; keyboard skills is a plus. Is patient, flexible, dependable, and comfortable adapting activities to different learners. Values inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to music education.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, Early Childhood Education, Music Therapy, or a related field. Proficiency in guitar; keyboard skills a plus Confident singing voice. Experience working with young children. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Completion of a TB test is required as part of the onboarding process. Livescan Mandated reporter training paid by OCMS Pass background check Ability to travel between schools within the Garden Grove School District.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience leading group music classes. Experience working with children with autism or developmental differences. Additional musical skills such as ukulele, percussion, or other instruments.
