Staump Music School is seeking dependable, enthusiastic music educators to join our teaching team in Santee, California. We are accepting applicants who teach voice, piano, guitar, drums, bass, ukulele, flute, or other instruments. You do not need to teach both voice and an instrument. We welcome specialists as well as versatile educators who teach multiple instruments. About Staump Music School Founded in 2008, Staump Music School is an established, award-winning music school serving students throughout San Diego County. We offer private lessons, group classes, rock band programs, performance opportunities, and access to our professional recording studio in El Cajon. Responsibilities Teach engaging private lessons and, depending on experience and school needs, group classes or rock band programs Work with students of different ages, skill levels, learning styles, and musical interests Help students develop technique, musicianship, confidence, creativity, and performance skills Prepare structured and encouraging lessons appropriate for each student Communicate professionally with students, families, and the Staump Music School team Maintain a reliable and consistent weekly teaching schedule Participate in occasional meetings, training, performances, or school events when scheduled Schedule and Commitment Our regular teaching hours are Monday through Friday from 3:00-8:00 PM. This is an in-person, part-time position generally offering approximately 5-20 hours per week. Available hours depend on teacher availability, student demand, instruments taught, and assigned programs. Teachers provide their availability when hired, and we build a consistent weekly schedule within that availability. Once established, teachers are expected to maintain their schedule reliably because students and families depend on consistent weekly lesson times. This position is best suited for someone seeking a dependable, ongoing teaching commitment rather than a temporary or frequently changing schedule. Qualifications Strong proficiency in voice or at least one musical instrument Ability to work positively and patiently with children and teens Dependable, professional, and comfortable communicating with families Ability to make lessons engaging while providing clear structure and guidance Teaching, coaching, mentoring, or other experience working with students is preferred Music education, performance, or related college experience is a plus but not required Ability to teach multiple instruments or lead group programs is a plus Willingness to complete required hiring and background-check procedures We value reliability, professionalism, teaching potential, and the ability to connect with students.
