Our students range from young beginners discovering the joy of making music to advanced players preparing for auditions, competitions, and other performance opportunities. The ideal teacher will bring energy, humor, and an encouraging presence to lessons while maintaining high musical standards. We handle scheduling, billing, administration, and marketing so that our teachers can focus on teaching.
The ideal candidate will:
Create a comfortable, positive learning environment in which students can develop confidence, creativity, musical expression, and strong technical skills Build rapport with students, responding naturally to different personalities, ages, and learning styles - motivating those who need a push and reassuring those who are hard on themselves Have experience teaching students at a range of ages and ability levels, from beginning through advanced Adapt lessons to each student's interests, goals, abilities, and pace of learning Be comfortable preparing students for recitals, auditions, competitions, school music programs, and other performance opportunities when appropriate Encourage both strong musicianship and a genuine love of playing music
Required Qualifications:
Piano must be your primary instrument Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Strong piano performance and teaching background Ability to teach in person at our Wilton Music Studios Ability to teach online when necessary Reliable transportation to and from
Wilton Transportation:
Please consider the trip carefully before applying: Wilton Music Studios is not within walking distance of a Metro-North station. Candidates without a car should map the trip in advance to make sure the commute is workable. Merritt 7 is the closest station but has limited train service; South Norwalk is generally the other practical option, followed by an Uber or rideshare to the studio. A car makes it easier...
