Job Description

Join Our Team as a Music Instructor at Making Light Productions! Making Light Productions is seeking dedicated and engaging instructors to teach private lessons in guitar, ukulele, and/or piano to students of all skill levels, from beginners through advanced musicians. We have a particular need for instructors with Tuesday availability , but candidates with availability on other days are still encouraged to apply.
Position Details Start Date:
September 2026
Hours:
Flexible, approximately 5-20 hours per week, based on student registration and instructor availability.
Schedule:
Lessons are scheduled based on the mutual availability of students and instructors, with opportunities to teach seven days a week. Tuesday availability is especially desirable.
Pay:
Competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
What We're Looking For Education/Experience:
A degree in music, current enrollment in a music degree program, or demonstrated proficiency through documented teaching and performance experience.
Teaching Experience:
At least one year of experience teaching private lessons or group music classes.
Additional Skills:
Experience working with children with disabilities or other support needs is a plus. Candidates who can teach multiple instruments or disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.
Personal Qualities:
Patient, creative, dependable, and enthusiastic about working with diverse learners in an inclusive arts environment.
Requirements:
Professional references and successful completion of a background check. Responsibilities Plan and provide engaging private lessons tailored to each student's goals, needs, and skill level. Provide individualized instruction and support to both children and adults. Incorporate appropriate music theory, technique, repertoire, and practice strategies into lessons. Communicate with parents or caregivers, when appropriate, about student progress and areas for continued growth. Adapt teaching approaches to meet a variety of learning styles and abilities.
