07/13/2026Directs instrumental music programs for both middle and high school students. Guide beginners in 5th grade and advance students through marching, concert, and pep bands up to 12th grade. Responsibilities include teaching theory, leading sectionals, and managing instruments and concerts.

Instruction & CurriculumDesign and implement a sequential, standards-aligned instrumental music curriculum for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students.

Evaluate student progress through playing tests, concert performances, and assessments.

Performance & ExtracurricularsSelect rigorous and age-appropriate music repertoire for concerts.

Coordinate and direct events such as seasonal concerts, pep rallies, parades, and marching band shows.

Prepare and accompany students for honor bands, solo & ensemble festivals, and large group adjudications.

Assist with musical direction for school-wide theatrical productions, graduations, or community events.

Program Management & OperationsManage and maintain the inventory of school-owned instruments, uniforms, and music libraries.

Handle instrument repairs, cleaning, and replacement schedules.

Prepare and manage the band program budget, including organizing fundraisers and managing booster clubs.

Coordinate event logistics, such as transportation, lodging, and chaperones for away trips.

Recruitment & CommunicationActively recruit students into the instrumental program during critical transition years (e.g., entering 5th or 7th grade).Maintain regular communication with parents regarding practice expectations, concert schedules, and volunteer opportunities.

Act as a representative of the fine arts department at school board meetings and community functions.
QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education.
Certification:
Valid State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in K-12 or 5-12 Instrumental Music.
Skills:
Proficiency in playing multiple instruments, conducting, and score reading. Strong classroom management, adaptability, and organizational abilities. Friend Version
