Voice and Piano Instructor Description:
DeFranco Music LLC is seeking a vocal and piano instructor to teach private lessons at Dexter Southfield. The teacher is needed at least two days per week -Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons - between 3:45-6:00pm. This is a year long contract with the option to renew. Lessons begin Monday, September 8, 2026 and run through Thursday, May 20, 2027 in accordance with the school's calendar. DeFranco Music LLC partners with Dexter Southfield to offer music lessons on campus to over 70 Lower, Middle and Upper School students. Our skilled faculty offer instruction in voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, violin, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and chanter/bagpipes. We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible teacher that enjoys working with beginners. Our teachers strive to hone a lifelong love of music, and it begins !
Qualifications:
Bachelor's and/or Master's+ degree(s) in at least one of the following discipline(s): Music Education, Vocal or Piano Performance, Vocal or Piano Pedagogy, Collaborative Piano At least three years of experience teaching elementary-aged students (approx. age 5-10 years). This candidate will teach mostly 1:1 lessons, with the option to teach 2:1 should the need arise. Applicants should demonstrate at least a proficient level of collaborative piano (fluency in reading lead sheets, acceptable sigh-reading ability) as well as professionalism, patience and kindness.
