Music Integration Teacher Summary :

The music integration teacher is responsible for co-planning and co-teaching integrated lessons to kindergarten-6th grade students that connect music concepts with academic concepts. Teachers who are not certified will meet one or more of the criteria listed in section 2854(3) (a- 1) of Education Law.

Director of Arts and Technology Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or related field (preferred) Valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Music Education and/or NCLB "highly qualified" status, preferred but not required Previous teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting or experience working with groups of children and youth within music education preferred.

Competencies:

Responsibilities are representative but may not capture all tasks to be performed. The candidates will be expected to complete all duties which may be required in the performance of their position. Specific Duties Create, write, and/or adjust music integration lessons and unit plans collaboratively with the assigned classroom teachers at each grade level in order to teach students lessons that connect music to ELA, math, social studies, or science. Co-teach music integration with the assigned classroom teachers to students in kindergarten through 6th grade. Ensure that the curriculum taught is aligned to the updated NYS Standards for Music Education. Track students' music integration progress and input grades for report cards at the end of each trimester. Work with small groups of students during music enrichment. Participate in the planning of schoolwide arts events and support student performances (including piano accompaniment if the candidate has that skillset). Collaborate with the entire Arts/PhysEd/Library team during periodic meetings and initiatives. General Expectations Differentiate instruction for students as needed. Use Whole Brain Teaching and Core Three and generally engage in effective and appropriate classroom management. Use effective presentation skills when employing direct instruction, including appropriate vocabulary and examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate and audible speech. Provide an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment. Maintain safe, clean, attractive and orderly work and storage spaces. Maintain and enrich expertise in music education. Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and following of Individualized Education Plans for selected students. Understand, practice and be accountable for professional expectations as defined by the 4 domains of Charlotte Danielson. Demonstrate the capacity to work collaboratively across disciplines.

$52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
