Laurelton-Pardee Intermediate School and Durand Eastman Intermediate School, East Irondequoit Central School District Position Summary The Music Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality music instruction that promotes student growth, creativity, performance skills, and appreciation of music. This position serves two intermediate schools, leading and directing choral programs and providing general music instruction at both schools. The successful candidate will foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment while supporting district goals related to academic excellence, student engagement, and the arts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Choral Program Leadership Direct and lead chorus programs at two intermediate schools. Plan and conduct rehearsals that develop students' vocal technique, musicianship, and performance skills. Prepare students for concerts, performances, assemblies, and other school or community events. Select and organize age-appropriate musical repertoire aligned with curricular goals. Promote student participation and engagement in the choral program. Coordinate concert schedules, performance logistics, and communication with students, families, and school staff. General Music Instruction Teach general music classes at both intermediate schools in accordance with New York State Learning Standards and district curriculum. Develop and implement engaging lessons in music literacy, music history, performance, listening, composition, and appreciation. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs. Utilize instructional technology and varied teaching strategies to enhance student learning. Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families. Student Support and Classroom Environment Establish a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment. Promote student responsibility, collaboration, creativity, and respect. Implement district-approved behavioral expectations and classroom management practices. Foster equitable access to music education opportunities for all students. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with fellow music educators, classroom teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success. Participate in grade-level, department, faculty, and professional learning meetings. Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and performance opportunities. Assist in the coordination of district music initiatives and events. Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and assessment data. Participate in professional development activities and district initiatives. Remain knowledgeable of current instructional practices in music education. Comply with all district policies, procedures, and contractual obligations. Perform other duties as assigned by building administration. Terms of Employment Ten-month position. Position assigned between two intermediate schools. Starting salary of at least $49,000 , with compensation adjusted based on education and experience in accordance with the East Irondequoit Teachers' Association collective bargaining agreement. Appointment is subject to Board of Education approval. Evaluation Performance shall be evaluated in accordance with the East Irondequoit Teachers' Association collective bargaining agreement, the District's approved teacher evaluation procedures, and applicable New York State laws and regulations. Qualifications:

Required Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Music (K-12). Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field. Demonstrated ability to lead vocal ensembles and teach general music. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple school buildings. Preferred Master's degree in Music Education or related field. Experience directing intermediate-level choral ensembles. Experience teaching general music at the elementary or intermediate level. Proficiency with instructional technology and music education software.
