Piano Instructor - Mansfield
YMCA POSITION SUMMARY
The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Piano Instructor to lead group piano classes at the Mansfield YMCA . This position focuses on providing engaging, high-quality music instruction that builds confidence, creativity, and foundational piano skills in a fun and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about music education, enjoys working with participants of all ages, and is experienced in teaching piano within a recreational or instructional group setting. We are specifically seeking instructors with availability on: Weekday evenings (4:00 to 8:00 PM) Classes will be conducted in small group formats of up to seven participants , serving students ranging from age 5 through adult learners .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach weekly group piano classes in a safe, positive, and structured environment. Provide instruction in piano fundamentals including note reading, rhythm, technique, and musical expression. Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that support beginner through intermediate skill levels. Adapt instruction to accommodate varying ages and learning styles within group classes. Encourage creativity, confidence, and enjoyment of music. Prepare students for informal showcases or program demonstrations when applicable. Maintain organized and welcoming classroom spaces. Communicate professionally with parents, participants, and YMCA staff. Ensure participant safety and follow YMCA policies and procedures. Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled classes. Support YMCA events or enrichment program demonstrations as needed. Uphold YMCA core values in all interactions with participants and families.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 18 years old. Previous experience teaching piano lessons preferred. Strong piano performance skills and understanding of music fundamentals required Experience teaching children and/or adult learners preferred. Ability to teach in a small group instructional setting. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Positive attitude and passion for music education and youth development. Availability during evenings and weekends, specifically Wednesday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturday afternoons High school diploma or equivalent required; formal music training or education preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to demonstrate piano techniques and actively lead instruction. Extended periods of sitting, standing, and instructional engagement. Ability to move light classroom equipment or materials when needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
