Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated After School Choir Instructor to lead and inspire students in developing their singing talents and fostering a love for music. This role involves creating a positive, engaging environment where children can explore their musical abilities, build confidence, and enjoy collaborative performances. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, strong classroom management skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching music in an after-school setting. Duties Plan and conduct engaging choir rehearsals for students of various ages and skill levels Foster a supportive environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and self-expression Develop age-appropriate vocal exercises and repertoire selections Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere Prepare students for performances, including rehearsals and community events Collaborate with school staff and parents to support student progress and participation Incorporate elements of theater, performance techniques, and musical education into lessons Ensure all activities adhere to safety protocols, including basic first aid when necessary Requirements Experience working with children in educational or extracurricular settings such as childcare, daycare, camp, tutoring, or theater Strong classroom management skills and behavior management strategies Knowledge of childhood development and early childhood education principles Ability to foster a nurturing environment that supports special education needs if applicable Experience with teaching singing, music theory, or choir directing preferred Skills in Christian counseling or sports coaching are a plus for creating a well-rounded approach to student engagement First aid certification is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is preferred Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate young learners Passion for music education and working with students of diverse backgrounds
