Job Description
St. Michael Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Music Teacher to join our vibrant school community. The ideal candidate will be passionate about music education, committed to Catholic values, and skilled in teaching both choral and instrumental music to Preschool- 8th grade students. Position Overview The Music Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging music instruction, organizing performances throughout the school year, and fostering a love of music in students while upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church. This position includes leading liturgical music at school Masses and coordinating school performances and concerts. This position can be combined with the IT position to make it a full time. Qualifications Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (required) State certification or VCEA eligibility for certification in teaching (preferred) Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Experience working with children in an educational or parish setting is highly valued Responsibilities Teach general music, choral, and instrumental music classes Lead student choirs and music ensembles for school Masses and special events Prepare students for seasonal concerts, recitals, and school programs Foster a positive and orderly classroom environment that promotes learning and respect Integrate Catholic values and teachings into the music curriculum Collaborate with faculty and administration on school-wide initiatives and events Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance Why Join St. Michael Catholic School?
