High School - Auxiliary Band Instructor (Fall)

Job Description

General Statement of Duties An auxiliary (assistant) high school band instructor assists the head band director in operating the school's band program during performances. Duties include instruction, rehearsal support and student supervision. Essential Duties Assisting the marching band director with rehearsals, performances, and field shows. Supporting the instruction and coordination of marching band rehearsals and performance activities. Assisting with administrative duties, including supervising students during football games, competitions, parades, and band trips. Helping monitor student behavior, attendance, and participation during rehearsals and events. Chaperone field trips, competitions, and after-school band activities Providing support to ensure the safe and effective operation of the marching band program. Additional Information Stipend will be prorated based upon the work begin date. In the event the position is shared between two candidates, the stipend will be split. The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Henrico County Schools reserves the right to begin screening applications and make a selection at any time during the posting period. Minimum Requirements Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a public-school band and flags program. Proven ability to support high-level practice sessions. Prior experience in preparing athletes for interscholastic band competitions. Prior experience in supporting team fundraising efforts.
