Job Description

Job description Happy Minds School of Music seeks a motivated, flexible, and organized team member to teach violin, viola, signing or woodwind instruments. Working closely with the Director, you will support students' artistic and academic growth, engage with our vibrant community, and help expand our programs. The ideal candidate loves teaching children, excels in a collaborative environment, and is eager to grow professionally by helping design and launch community initiatives. This is a part-time, in-person position based in Redmond and Bellevue, with occasional weekend availability required for school events.

Principal Duties Instruction & Curriculum:

Plan and deliver tailored individual and group lessons (30 to 60 minutes) for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Integrate instrumental technique, musical interpretation, ear training, rhythm, and music theory into instruction.

Student Success & Development:

Prepare students for recitals, examinations, auditions, and festivals. Provide weekly written assignments with clear goals, and review student progress via the school's practice app.

Communication & Collaboration:

Maintain clear, proactive communication with colleagues, students, and parents. Partner with the Director and parents to address and resolve any student learning challenges.

Program Support & Growth:

Assist with student accompaniment, evaluate children's programs, track instructor achievements, and assist in coordinating and growing new school initiatives. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or higher) in String Performance or Music Education. 3+ years of experience teaching violin/viola. Strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication. A collaborative mindset and a commitment to working as part of a team. Availability to teach during weekday afternoons and evenings (3:00 PM - 8:00 PM) and assist with occasional weekend events.
