Job Description
Methodist Theological School in Ohio President The Board of Trustees at Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) has launched a search for their next president. Located in Delaware, Ohio, MTSO is a graduate theological school and seminary serving approximately 129 students from more than 20 denominations and faith traditions across the country and around the world. The next president is expected to take office on July 1, 2027. MTSO is one of 13 official seminaries of the United Methodist Church and provides theological education and leadership in pursuit of a just, sustainable, and generative world. MTSO offers a Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Public Theology, Master of Arts in Social Justice, Master of Theological Studies, and Doctor of Ministry, all designed for both residential and online learners. MTSO is deeply committed to transformative, sustaining justice as an expansive theological vision and prepares ministers, chaplains, scholars, and community leaders to serve a rapidly changing church and world. MTSO seeks a visionary, pastoral, and collaborative leader who will honor the institution's storied past while charting an inspired path forward. Building on two decades of steady leadership, exceptional financial stability, nationally recognized innovation in ecotheology and public theology, and a deeply committed community, MTSO is positioned to shape the future of theological education. The Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students are unified in their excitement about the future and clear about the priorities they hope a new president will address. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic acumen and a genuine heart for theological education. A Master's degree, full participation in a church affiliation with a mainline denomination, and deep ecumenical and interfaith appreciation are required.
