A Religious Studies Professor teaches foundational religious ideas, truths, and methods to students through a combination of classroom instruction and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.

Aug 15, 2026 Description The Health and Society program at The University of Texas at Austin seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/non-tenure track positions to teach undergraduate courses. Positions are not available every semester and are contingent upon student enrollment and the availability of funding. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, though sometimes a year-long or years-long appointment can be made. Positions are renewable annually or multi-annually, contingent upon funding, position and performance. Salary is dependent upon position and qualifications. Qualifications A Ph.D. in a social science or humanities discipline that focused on a health-related topic is preferred. Previous college-level teaching experience is required.
