3008167715-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Spectrum Center Schools and Programs seeks an Adaptive Physical Educator to design and deliver individualized PE services for students with autism and other special needs. In this mission-driven, student-centered role, you will assess motor and functional skills, create IEP-aligned PE goals, and implement adaptive activities that build strength, coordination, and confidence. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to integrate PE into each student's learning plan, collect data, and adjust instruction using evidence-based practices. Support safe, structured environments, train staff on modifications, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture. Responsibilities Provide adaptive physical education services to students with autism and other special needs Conduct motor and functional skill assessments and develop IEP-aligned PE goals Design and implement individualized and small-group adaptive PE activities Track and analyze student progress using data-driven, evidence-based practices Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to integrate PE into student programs Adapt equipment, rules, and environments to ensure access, safety, and inclusion Train and support school staff on physical activity accommodations and behavior supports Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment Document services and communicate progress to IEP teams and families Participate in professional development and contribute to a collaborative school culture Required Skills Adapted physical education program design Student motor skill and functional assessments IEP goal development and documentation Behavior management in PE settings Universal design and activity modification Data collection and progress monitoring Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Knowledge of autism and developmental disabilities Safety and risk management in physical activity Parent and caregiver communication
