Job Description

The purpose of the Physical Education Teacher is to create physically literate individuals who are responsible, social, healthy, and skilled movers in a variety of activities. In this regard, the Physical Education Teacher is responsible for developing individuals who enjoy and seek out physical activity, and who develop and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness throughout their lives. Duties Develops a curriculum for the Physical Education program Anchors curriculum in state and/or national standards Includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning domains Exposes students to a broad range of physical activity Creates many units to give students unique learning opportunities Structures content for students to make progressive achievements towards standards in all domains Leads students to develop cognitive concepts about motor skills and fitness Challenges each student at a developmentally appropriate level Instructs classes using appropriate practices for physical education Strives for maximum participation and practice opportunities for every student Uses at least 50% of class time for students to be in moderate to vigorous activity Provides students with specific, congruent, positive feedback Does not use physical activity for punishment Assess and reports student progress made toward national standards Uses formative and summative assessments to collect data in all domains throughout learning segments Analyzes data for the purpose of improving individual student success Evaluates program effectiveness based on data and student achievement Promotes health, fitness, and physical activity to all in the DSA Family Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education a related field Florida Teaching Certificate 2-3 years minimum of experience teaching in Physical Education Ability to work proficiently in a diverse, multicultural setting Values physical activity and its contributions to a healthful lifestyle Exemplary Christian role model who lets his or her "light shine" Must align with our Statement of Faith and lifestyle agreement Physical Requirements Ability to demonstrate and participate in physical activities Capability to manage long hours of physical activity and supervision Adequate strength to assist with demonstrations and handle equipment Good hand-eye coordination to model and guide activities Ability to move freely and quickly to supervise students Ability to remain active and engaged throughout the day Quick reflexes for safety and managing fast-paced environments Clear vision and hearing to monitor and ensure safety Reports to:
