JOB DESCRIPTION
Physical education(PE) teachers instruct students and organizes games and challenges that promote physical activity among children and young adults. Goal is to develop motor skills and physical development and proper exercise. PE teacher must adjust curriculum to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors in Education Valid Public Educator's License in area of study Proper Certification Required
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teaches District approved curriculum 2. Plans curriculum, lessons and teaching methods 3. Must have strong speaking and listening skills. 4. Must maintain discipline within the class. 5. Plans physical education program to promote development of student's physical attributes and social skills. 6. Establishes and maintains appropriate records, reports and procedures. 7. Teaches individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and physical capabilities of students. 8. Organizes, leads, instructs and referees indoor and outdoor games such as volleyball, baseball and basketball 9. Instructs individuals or groups in beginning or advanced calisthenics, gymnastics, or corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty of exercises, corrections needed, and prescribed movements. 10. Teaches and demonstrate the proper use of gymnastics and training apparatus. 11. Interact with parents, other teachers and school administrators 12. Confers with students, parents, and school counselor to resolve student problem 13. Inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in physical education program. 14. Exposes students to community recreational activities that are available to them. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties.
