Dearborn Academy The Dearborn Academy a Pre K- 8 Charter School is seeking a Physical Education Teacher. Teacher is responsible for the direct instruction of physical education to students. In addition, they are responsible for planning instruction, setting goals, implementing curriculum as well as the clear and timely communication of standards, achievements and deficiencies to student and parents.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
Implement the assigned program of study. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning. Utilize instructional and classroom management systems that increase learning and maximize time on task. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals. Communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis. Meet professional responsibilities. Maintain and upgrade professional skills. Promote and maintain positive Academy-staff and pupil-teacher-parent relationships. Adhere to the teacher code of conduct. Support and implement the discipline philosophy of the Academy, as well as disciplinary procedures designed for individual students. Report incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to the Code and administrative and/or Academy policies. Maintain confidentiality regarding students. Attend and participate in all required in-service training sessions and become familiar with the inclusion philosophy and procedures as outlined in AIMS' policy. Return classrooms to proper condition when using them for special subject. Supervise Para-Educator when in respective classroom. Ensure adherence to safety procedures. Other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. Except as otherwise provided by law, the Academy shall use certificated teachers according to state board rule. Teacher certification MX endorsement. Relevant teaching experience. Knowledge of relevant technology. Knowledge of the developmental needs of children and school improvement strategies is a definite plus. Ability to effectively interact with professionals, parents and students.
