Category Schools - Adaptive Physical Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role where your expertise as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher will directly impact students across the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro region. We are seeking a passionate professional who thrives in dynamic educational settings and is committed to making physical education engaging and accessible for all. In this position, you'll join an established team of two Adaptive Physical Education Teachers on a full school-year assignment, with work scheduled from August 31, 2026, through June 10, 2027. With three teachers in total, responsibilities will be thoughtfully divided, minimizing the need to travel between schools within the same day and allowing you to focus on supporting students at your assigned locations. This opportunity entails a consistent 30-hour workweek serving five schools across the metro area.
Qualifications & Experience:
Current and valid DAPE (Developmental Adapted Physical Education) License required Experience with adaptive physical education, ideally in a school setting Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt lessons to individual student needs Excellent communication and collaboration abilities for working with students, families, and staff Ability to manage multiple school assignments and coordinate with colleagues
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement adaptive physical education lessons tailored to diverse student abilities Assess, document, and report on student progress toward IEP goals Collaborate with special education staff, classroom teachers, and families Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that encourages physical activity and growth Participate in team meetings and contribute to program development
