Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, making a meaningful impact in middle school settings. This position focuses on creating an inclusive and engaging environment for students with diverse developmental needs across two middle schools. Youll design and implement adapted physical education activities, inspire students to achieve their personal best, and collaborate with dedicated educators.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota DAPE (Developmental Adaptive Physical Education) license required Previous experience as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher in a school setting highly preferred Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive curriculum Exceptional communication and collaboration skills Ability to manage a dynamic caseload and adjust programs to meet various student needs Commitment to fostering inclusivity, encouragement, and student growth
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver adaptive physical education lessons tailored to students with physical and developmental challenges Assess student abilities and progress, updating instructional approaches accordingly Participate in IEP meetings and consult with special education staff, families, and related service providers Document progress, maintain accurate records, and offer input on student goals Create a supportive, motivating, and safe class atmosphere Adjust daily instruction to accommodate individual and group needs This full-time role spans from early September to late November, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule totaling 37.5 hours per week.
