Job Description

Step into an impactful educational environment as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher supporting middle school students who benefit from developmental and adaptive physical education services. This contract position blends your expertise in adaptive curriculum and your dedication to making movement accessible and enjoyable for all learners. The assignment spans from early September to late November, Monday through Friday, across two well-supported school sites in the Blaine, MN area.
Qualifications:
Active Minnesota DAPE (Developmental Adapted Physical Education) teaching license required Bachelors degree or higher in Physical Education, Special Education, or a related field Prior experience delivering adaptive PE instruction in a school setting, especially with middle school populations Strong understanding of IEP processes and documentation for adapted physical education Ability to tailor activities and instruction to individual student needs and abilities Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement adaptive physical education lessons designed to promote students motor skills, fitness, and maximum participation Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support IEP goals Evaluate and document student progress; maintain accurate records in accordance with district policies Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging gym environment Travel between two designated middle school locations as needed Attend required meetings and contribute to IEP team discussions This contract offers the opportunity to lead meaningful instruction and help students thrive physically and socially.
