Job Description

OakHaven Montessori School is seeking a passionate and engaging Physical Education Teacher to provide weekly physical education instruction to our Elementary students (ages 6-12). This part-time (2 hours every Thursday) position offers an opportunity to foster a lifelong appreciation for physical activity, healthy habits, teamwork, and personal wellness within a Montessori learning environment. The Physical Education Teacher will design and lead developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical fitness, coordination, sportsmanship, self-confidence, and a positive attitude toward movement and exercise. Essential Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons for students ages 6-12. Create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that encourages participation and physical activity. Promote healthy habits, teamwork, cooperation, and good sportsmanship. Adapt activities to meet the varying abilities and developmental needs of students. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during physical activities. Communicate effectively and professionally with school staff and administration. Maintain appropriate supervision and classroom management during all activities. Support OakHaven Montessori School's mission and educational philosophy. Professional Expectations All OakHaven teachers and specialists are expected to: Base their practices on an understanding of child development and Montessori principles. Build positive relationships with students founded on trust, respect, and encouragement. Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior. Contribute positively to the school community. Personal Attributes and Skills Successful candidates will: Be dependable, punctual, and self-motivated. Enjoy working with children and demonstrate respect for their individuality and development. Be energetic, enthusiastic, and encouraging. Possess strong organizational and communication skills. Be flexible and able to respond effectively to changing needs. Present themselves professionally and work collaboratively with colleagues. Qualifications Experience in physical education, coaching, youth sports, fitness instruction, recreation programming, or a related field. Ability to plan and implement engaging activities for elementary-aged children. Strong classroom management and leadership skills. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Education, Recreation, or a related field preferred, but not required. Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Schedule 2 hours per week Thursdays during the school year Schedule follows the OakHaven Montessori School calendar Compensation $30 per hour worked Paid monthly Employment Status Part-Time School-Year Position (2026-2027)
