Summary:

High School Physical Education (PE)/ Health Teacher to work with students in grades 9-12. This candidate will foster a positive, engaging, and healthy environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and overall well-being. In addition to traditional physical education instruction, this position requires the integration of a health and life skills curriculum, focusing on personal development, wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Integrate a health and life skills curriculum into PE classes, teaching topics such as nutrition, mental health, personal hygiene, and overall wellness.
• Encourage student participation and motivation in physical activities while accommodating diverse fitness levels and abilities.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote improvement in physical and health-related skills.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to support a holistic approach to student health and well-being.
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students by enforcing rules, proper techniques, and equipment use.
• Monitor students for injuries or health issues and respond appropriately, following school policies and procedures.
• Implement a variety of teaching and instructional strategies to educate students
• Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and who possess a range educational readiness levels
• Individualize and differentiate educational processes and procedures to meet the learning needs of all students.
• Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students, and effectively utilizes the time available for instructional activities
• Maintain appropriate standards of student behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques, including positive reinforcement and behavior shaping procedures
• Review, analyze, evaluate, and report student academic, social, and emotional growth
• Counsel, confer with and communicate with parents and host parents, and school personnel regarding student progress

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field is preferred
• NYS Teaching Certification in PE or Health Education preferred.
• Experience teaching middle school students is a plus.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Newly hired employees will have a background check completed
• Required to completed Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, Preventing Child Sexual Abuse Training and Van Safety Training.
• Newly hired employees will be subject to an MVR check
