Job Description

Montessori Children's House is a Preschool through Elementary program in Providence, RI. We aim to develop self-motivated, independent learners by encouraging academic excellence and artistic exploration. We currently have an opening for a part-time Physical Education & Creative Movement teacher. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree; experience working with children, and experience with P.E or dance style classes. The position would be approximately 6 hours of instruction per week. This is a dual role, where a teacher would instruct two types of classes for young children: a physical education or "gym" style class, and a more dance/theater based class, or "CreativeMovement". The P.E classes would focus on life time physical activity including individual pursuits or skills. structured activities focused on movement, fundamental motor skills and social play balance, coordination and teamwork through guided games The Creative Movement classes would be more focused on creative expression, dance and theater. While a drama degree is not required, some experience with production and the art of performance is preferred.
The classes would focus on:
dance and rhythms, body awareness mindfulness, awareness of self and others theater and performance Candidates must have experience working with young children (5-11 years old), and have experience with teaching dance/theater, gym or related field. Interested candidates may send a resume.
