Physical Education & Health Teacher Nuestro Mundo Public Charter School Providence, RI Job Details Full-time 21 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Position OverviewNuestro Mundo is seeking an energetic, relationship-centered Physical Education & Health Teacher who believes that student wellness includes both a healthy body and a healthy mind.

The PE & Health Teacher will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction across grade levels, helping students build lifelong habits around movement, physical fitness, nutrition, personal wellness, healthy relationships, emotional well-being, and responsible decision-making.

We are looking for an educator who can make PE joyful and inclusive while creating Health classes that are relevant, safe, and meaningful for students. This person will be an important part of our enrichment team and broader school community.
Key ResponsibilitiesPhysical Education:
  • Plan and facilitate engaging PE experiences that develop students strength, coordination, endurance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence
  • Create opportunities for all students to experience success in physical activity, regardless of athletic ability
  • Teach age-appropriate skills through games, movement, cooperative activities, fitness, and sports
  • Build a PE culture centered on participation, encouragement, teamwork, and joy in movement
  • Establish clear routines and expectations that promote physical and emotional safety.
Health & Wellness:
  • Provide developmentally appropriate Health instruction across grade levels
  • Help students develop knowledge and habits related to physical, mental, social, and emotional wellness
  • Facilitate learning around topics such as nutrition, hygiene, healthy habits, relationships, personal safety, emotional regulation, decision-making, and other age-appropriate health topics
  • Create an environment where students can ask questions, think critically, and discuss health and wellness topics respectfully
  • Adapt content and conversations to meet the developmental needs of students at different ages.
School Community:
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students across multiple grade levels
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, school leaders, and enrichment staff to support the whole child
  • Contribute to schoolwide wellness initiatives, community events, field days, recess programming, and other opportunities for movement and connection
  • Support a positive school culture in which students demonstrate inclusion, cooperation, responsibility, and respect
  • Communicate effectively with families and colleagues regarding student growth and programming.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Appropriate teaching license/certification or eligibility preferred
  • Background in Physical Education, Health Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Education, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus.
