Job Description

High School Physical Education and Health Teacher for the 2026-2027 School year
Location:
North Salt Lake Reports to: Administration Salary starting at: $48, 216.00 (pro-rated to start date); variable determined by current licensure, pertinent classroom experience, and education attained. This position also qualifies for the ESA

    • This position is also eligible for an additional educator salary adjustment pay of $10, 660.
    50, which is determined by a valid, current state license per Utah Code 53F-2-405 and licensure remaining in good standing.
    Job Type:
    Full-time (Hourly 37.5 hrs/week), 100% in office, no remote work offered.     Qualifications:
    Able to pass a background check Current Utah State Educator's License with preference given to SPED endorsed certifications and/or Physical Education or Health endorsed certifications/licensure Minimum 2 years experience with autism preferred

    Spectrum Academy is a premier Charter School that specializes in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Approximately 80% of our student body receives Special Education Services. We are looking for a qualified individual to help teach rotations of classes that may include, but aren't limited to, PE, Health, Weight Training, etc.
    Essential Job Functions:
    Employee will be expected to manage their classroom; Clerical
    • develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with school policy. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs. SPED minutes, utilizing school assigned resources to accurately track student minutes, etc. Classroom management
    • Instructional duties
    • Instructional duties include curriculum adherence and development, as assigned by the employee's Administration.
    This position is in-person, working in a classroom ; most usually in the building for which the employee is hired Utilize exceptional in-person and digital communication skills to collaborate with students, families, colleagues, and administration; provide leadership and oversight to assigned classroom paraprofessionals to drive student success Utilize various electronic devices and systems for required reporting, tracking, and other duties Employee must complete annual employee trainings including but not limited to FERPA and Data Security training and abide by all privacy and confidentiality laws in terms of student and other employee information
    Physical Demands:
    the physical demands described here are essential to successfully perform the core responsibilities and job duties: Employee will be able to actively participate in, demonstrate, and lead a wide variety of physical fitness routines, sports, and weight training activities alongside students. Employee will need to be able to move, often quickly, to assist students, colleagues, and other staff in daily responsibilities. Employee may be asked to escort students to various locations within the school, participate in physical activity with students, or assist students with other responsibilities as called upon Employee will be required to remain on their feet for extended periods of time and/or circulate around a given space to perform essential duties (ie; working directly with students, following students, assisting with students out-of-classroom activities) Employee will be able to move/transport up to 30 pounds Employee must be able to work and/or manage a classroom in a high-intensity environment due to possible loud noises, student-caused disorganization, and student physical behaviors. The employee must be capable to remain on task, in the classroom or any other school setting, while others are distracted Possible job duties and responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Implements the assigned program of study. Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning. Utilizes instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task. Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with school policy. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs. Meets professional responsibilities. Maintains and upgrades professional skills. Maintains professional work habits. Adheres to the teacher code of conduct. Attend all mandatory meetings and training as assigned by the Administration or Academic Director.
