Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Director to lead our program and staff. As the Childcare Director, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) regulations, managing staff development, and fostering a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. You will also oversee administrative functions, including enrollment, budgeting, and the use of childcare management software. Responsibilities Provide leadership, supervision, and support for teachers and staff Ensure compliance with Alabama DHR licensing standards and maintain all required records and documentation Oversee and ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all children in care Develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate curriculum and enrichment programs Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for children to learn and grow Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns Manage daily operations, including Procare Childcare Management Software for attendance, billing, and family communication Utilize Google Drive for documentation, staff scheduling, and administrative record-keeping Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate staff performance Manage enrollment, budgeting, and supply inventory Promote positive behavior management strategies and support children's social-emotional development Ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and in compliance with health, safety, and DHR regulations Qualifications Must meet Alabama DHR Director qualifications, including education and/or work experience in early childhood education or related field Previous leadership or administrative experience in a childcare or early childhood education setting Knowledge of early childhood education principles, DHR licensing requirements, and best practices Experience using Procare software and Google Drive/Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.) Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) Strong organizational and management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Patience, compassion, and a genuine passion for working with children and families Experience supporting children with diverse needs is a plus Compensation We offer competitive pay based on experience.
