This position is ideal for an energetic, hands-on leader who sees opportunities for improvement and takes initiative to make them happen. We are looking for someone who can balance the operational and licensing responsibilities of running a preschool with the people-focused side of the role: developing staff, connecting with families, creating a welcoming school environment, and actively growing enrollment. What You'll Be Responsible For The Director will have overall responsibility for the successful day-to-day operation of the school, including: Leading, supporting, and developing teaching and administrative staff Establishing clear expectations, accountability, and consistent school procedures Managing staffing, scheduling, classroom ratios, and daily coverage Maintaining compliance with California Community Care Licensing and Title 22 requirements Overseeing child and staff records, licensing documentation, and required school files Maintaining high standards for classroom quality, supervision, safety, and the overall school environment Building strong relationships with current families and addressing questions or concerns professionally Taking an active role in enrollment efforts, including responding to inquiries, conducting tours, following up with prospective families, and converting leads into enrollments Developing strategies to improve family retention and strengthen the school's presence within the local community Identifying areas where school operations can be improved and implementing practical solutions Overseeing timekeeping, purchasing, administrative processes, and other operational needs Working collaboratively with ownership and management on school goals, staffing, enrollment, and continued improvement The Person We're Looking For We're looking for someone who doesn't simply maintain a preschool, but knows how to lead, strengthen, and grow one.
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience At least 2 years of Preschool Director or comparable preschool management experience Strong working knowledge of California Title 22 requirements Experience supervising, coaching, and managing employees Experience with enrollment, school tours, prospective family follow-up, and retention Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Confidence communicating with both employees and families Strong computer skills The ability to recognize problems, establish priorities, and follow through on solutions Montessori knowledge or experience strongly preferred AMI, AMS, or other recognized Montessori certification preferred Ability to meet all applicable background clearance and licensing requirements Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position offering: Competitive annual salary based on qualifications and experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contributions Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays based on eligibility

How comfortable are you with California Title 22 regulations and preparing for or participating in Community Care Licensing visits?
